After 1.5 years of design and 10 months of construction, the $1.6M Village Green is now open at Intrapac’s Aureus project in Skennars Head, in the desirable Northern Rivers region of NSW.

Comprising of 2.3ha of active and passive recreation space and forming part of a larger Coast Reserve that runs along the entire frontage of Aureus, the Village Green is positioned between the future Aureus Village and The Coast Road with its gently elevated nature providing expansive views out over Sharpes Beach and towards Skennars Headland.

Designed by local Byron Bay Landscape Architects Landsite Pty Ltd, who have 30+ years experience in designing and delivering award-winning open spaces in QLD, NSW and VIC, the Village Green comprises a playground with elements catering for children from 2 to 12 years. The park also delivered shaded BBQ and picnic shelters, a range of seating options and of course, so close to the beach, sun lounges to recline and relax the day away. Strategic placement of trees throughout the park will provide areas of shade as the tree canopies develop.

Central to the Village Green is the expansive oval shaped ‘green’, surrounded by tree planting and paths, this space offers an area for informal ball play, frisbee, kites and the like. It also provides an opportunity for community driven events such as carols, moonlight cinemas & concerts having already hosted a recent gathering by the burgeoning Aureus community.  Public art is also included in the playground, with a playable cubby by renowned Sydney based artist, Jade Oakley.

As the future Aureus Village neighbourhood centre develops, local shopping, cafés and restaurants will engage directly with the Village Green reserve providing a lively interface between these two community amenities and will cater to the Aureus residents, and also offer a valuable recreation and lifestyle asset for the broader northern rivers’ community and its visitors.

Special thanks to Intrapac’s Development Manager, Matthew Fradgley and Darren Taitoko for their tireless work on the delivery of the Village Green. #design #community #development #construction #art #project #playground #landscapearchitects Eureka Landscapes
