Keysborough kids will ditch chocolates for healthy apple treats this Halloween, at the Somerfield open air Halloween party on Friday 31 October 2014, which will be held at the pirate adventure playground.

Intrapac and the Somerfield Social Club will be giving every child attending the Halloween party an apple instead of a sugary treat, sending a positive message about healthy food choices when trick or treating.

Senior Development Manager for Intrapac, Max Shifman, said they wanted to do something a little different this year by encouraging children to think twice before reaching for that chocolate or candy bar.

“We want children to embrace a healthy lifestyle from an early age – and it all starts with the little things like making healthy food choices. With one in four Australian children classified as overweight or obese(1), creating great open spaces to encourage active, outside play is also key,” said Max.

“We’re really going the extra mile this year and want everyone within the Somerfield community to get involved. We’re hoping the event will be a huge success. Last year we attracted over 150 people,” he said.

The open air Halloween party will be jam-packed with exciting games and entertainment for the whole family including apple bobbing, apple on a line and peel an apple. There will even be a fancy dress and a scary monster dance competition for children to participate in.

Since launching in 2009, Somerfield has enjoyed an incredible sales uptake from a thriving and a vibrant community. Situated approximately 25 minutes drive to Melbourne’s CBD, 8 minutes from the beach, and 35 minutes from the Mornington Peninsula, Somerfield is close to transport links, primary and secondary schools, and shops.

The variety of beautifully designed open spaces have made it a highly desirable and inspiring place to live for many first time homebuyers, upgraders and investors.
