To celebrate the end of the school holidays, QUAY2 hosted a special family movie night under the stars at Hilltop “Pirate” Park for The Quay residents and their new neighbours moving in to QUAY2.

A showing of The Secret Life of Pets was started after a magic show for the kids, giant games and free popcorn and snowcones.

“We’re lucky at QUAY2 that we can integrate with the neighbouring The Quay families and benefit from an already established and close-knit community,” says Maxwell Shifman, Chief Operating Officer of Intrapac Property, the developer behind both The Quay and QUAY2.

It marked the start of events for the neighbourhoods after The Quay Residents Association’s annual ‘Christmastime in The Quay’ home and street decorations were brighter than ever with the first annual not-for-profit charities fundraiser, where residents competed to win prize donations for their nominated charities by decorating their homes and streets.

“Besides a brilliantly lit neighbourhood of many homes and streets, there were 1.4 metre high colourful holiday banners placed on 180 streetlamps making the neighbourhood look like a cake top with multi-coloured candles day and night,” says John De Witt of The Quay Residents Association.

There was also a community-decorated Christmas tree adorned at The Quay’s entrance, cinema driveway holiday movies and the beginnings of a ‘Santa’s Christmas Tree Lane’ along Nautical Rise.

“There was also a fun-filled evening with Mayor Brian McKiterick, Cr Rose Hodge and Cr Martin Duke mingling with hundreds of families meeting Santa and his elves with kids’ prizes, jumping castle, face painting, drumming and a carol sing along with The Carolvanners,” says Mr De Witt. “Kids and kids-at-heart are really enjoying this annual event, and to be delivered again during the Christmas 2017 holidays.”

Coming neighbourhood events include: ‘Surf Coast Relay for Life’ – with a team sponsored by Intrapac Property – to raise funds for the Cancer Council on 3-4 March; ‘Clean-Up Australia Day’ on 5 March and Easter Festival. There is always something fun to do or demonstrate community spirit in The Quay.
