QUAY2 and neighbouring families made the most of the school holidays enjoying the recently completed nautical themed park on Marine Drive. This central, elevated park integrates significant retained Moonah trees along with extensive shade tree planting and provides a large multi-aged playground experience (& all abilities access) with views out over the surrounding estate, glimpses of the ocean, and a family-focused large picnic & free electric BBQ shelter fitted with lighting for evening use.
The park was designed by Landscape Architects, Landsite who were delighted to hear that the local community have embraced the new park now that covid restrictions have been lifted. Landsite’s Darren Taitoko confirmed that the central park includes an informal kickabout area located within a broad, tree lined amphitheatre, an elevated playground with a 8 metre tower offering views over the park, surrounding homes and glimpses of Bass Straight as well as ample public seating. The nautical theme of the park embraces both the park’s coastal location as well as acknowledging Intrapac’s original Torquay development, The Quay and its much loved, Pirate Park.
The substantial open space network that runs through the QUAY2 estate is comprised of a treed walkway that connects a series of parklands. A smaller nearby park features a community orchard. There is also a large wetland that connects into the Deep Creek trail system providing direct pedestrian access to the beach at Zeally Bay.
With all the beautifully landscaped park & wetlands nearing completion, the QUAY2 community is starting to feel really established.
